How we calculate the weight you pay for
We charge the greater of actual weight and volumetric weight, rounded up to the next pound. The minimum is 1 lb.
Volumetric weight = length × width × height in centimeters ÷ 2,720. It only applies when the box exceeds 1 cubic foot (28,317 cm³); a smaller box always pays by actual weight.
Consolidating several packages into one box is free and lowers the price per pound: three 1 lb packages pay the 3 lb rate, not three times the 1 lb rate.

Colombian import taxes: what you pay and when
Taxes are not PrimeBox's: DIAN, the Colombian customs authority, charges them. We file and pay them on your behalf so your package clears customs with no paperwork on your side.
- Purchases up to US$200: no taxes
- Under the US–Colombia free trade agreement, a shipment with an FOB value of up to US$200 (the product price, excluding freight) pays neither duty nor VAT. We charge no customs-management fee either.
- Purchases over US$200: duty + VAT
- Duty depends on the product's tariff heading (10 % is the most common) and is calculated on the CIF value; 19 % VAT is then applied on CIF + duty. The calculator tells you the exact rate for your product.
- Customs management: 7.5 % of the taxes
- When taxes are due, we charge 7.5 % of duty + VAT for declaring, assessing and paying them to DIAN. If your purchase pays no taxes, customs management is US$0.
- Phones, tablets and laptops
- One phone per shipment, with its accessories and nothing else in the box, ships VAT-exempt up to 22 UVT. Tablets are exempt up to 22 UVT and laptops up to 50 UVT. The calculator applies the rule automatically.

Choose how to buy. The only price difference between the three services is the commission: freight and taxes are calculated the same way.
Virtual mailbox
0 %Commission
You buy with your own card and use your Miami address. We charge no commission on the value of your purchases: only freight and, when they apply, taxes.
Personal Shopper
12 %Commission
We buy for you when the store rejects your Colombian card or does not ship to mailboxes. The commission rises to 17 % if the purchase exceeds US$200 and pays taxes. Minimum US$2 per order.
Amazon Marketplace

Buy in Colombian pesos at a final price: product, commission, freight and taxes included, at the official exchange rate of the day. The commission is 17 % on purchases that pay taxes.
Additional charges and optional services
You only pay for the ones you use. None is charged without telling you first.
- Shipment insurance
- Covers the declared value of your package up to US$2,000 for the whole journey. On shipments with a declared value over US$100 it costs 1.19 % of the declared value; below that amount it is not charged.
- Last mile in Colombia
- The leg from our Bogotá warehouse to your door is quoted separately once the package reaches Colombia, by city and weight, with partner domestic carriers. Pay it on the platform or cash on delivery where available.
- Special handling
- Perfumes, aerosols and loose lithium batteries travel as dangerous goods: they have their own freight schedule (from US$24 for the first pound) and up to 8 additional business days in transit.
- Storage in Miami
- We hold your packages free of charge while you consolidate or finish shopping. After 15 calendar days without starting and paying for the shipment, storage may be charged at the current rate.
- Payment methods
- Credit or debit card, Nequi, Daviplata, PSE and bank transfer. Pay in pesos at the official exchange rate of the day or in dollars; the price is the same.

Pricing FAQ
It depends only on billable weight: the first pound costs US$8 and every additional pound lowers the price per pound (see the table above). Colombian import taxes are added only if the purchase exceeds US$200 and, if you choose it, last-mile delivery to your door. The mailbox is free and we charge no commission on your purchases.
Not on the virtual mailbox: you pay freight per pound and, when they apply, taxes. We only charge a commission when we buy for you: 12 % with Personal Shopper and 12 % on the Amazon Marketplace, with a higher tier when the purchase pays taxes.
When the shipment's FOB value (product price, excluding freight) exceeds US$200. Below that, thanks to the US–Colombia free trade agreement, there is no duty or VAT. Above it you pay duty by tariff heading, 19 % VAT and a 7.5 % customs-management fee on those taxes for filing with DIAN.
Between 3 and 15 business days from the moment we receive the package in Miami, if you pay the quote when we send it. Miami → Colombia transit takes 3 to 8 business days once dispatched; the rest is reception, weighing and waiting for your payment. Times are estimates: DIAN inspections, weather or airline contingencies can extend them, and last mile is added at the end. Special-handling products take up to 8 more business days.
